Infinite Crisis was a gigantic event from DC Comics that had tons of tie-ins, miniseries and one-shots, but it ultimately resulted in the miniseries Villains United.

The build-up is that Lex Luthor, who’s secretly Alexander Luthor Jr. from Earth-3 (that’s the one with the Crime Syndicate instead of the Justice League), has created a truly massive group of almost every villain in the DC Universe, creatively dubbed The Society. In retaliation, the mysterious Mockingbird, who's actually Alexander Luthor Jr. from Earth-Prime (that's the one that we as readers know and love), recruits six villains to act as a counter to the Secret Society.

This miniseries sprawled six issues and acted not only as a means to showcase the inner workings of the new Society in a unique light, but as a massive reveal for who’s running the new Society and to detail the damage that an over-two-hundred-villain-strong team can be.

The six-parter was so well-received it was given a special #1 to tie up loose ends, which boiled down to the remaining members of the team deciding to become their own mercenary group.
