Spider-Man: 10 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About Spider-Verse

Dan Slott's epic, space-bending adventure sadly wasn't as perfect as it could have been.

2015's Spider-Verse event was a truly mammoth affair as Peter Parker's chief tormentor Dan Slott threw the web-slinger into the latest in a long line of desperate situations. Since taking over as the main writer for Peter's adventures with Amazing Spider-Man - and Superior Spider-Man, for a time - Slott has given Spidey fans a number of huge storylines that have been simply incredible.

And, for the most part, his universe-spanning Spider-Verse event was yet another example of a great superhero narrative. The story dragged Spider-Men and Women from a multitude of worlds together in a conflict against Morlun and his deadly family of Inheritors. With Spiders from all over being hunted down and slaughtered for consumption by the Inheritors, Peter was tasked with leading an army to defeat Morlun's family and preserve the Great Web that connects all arachnid heroes.

But while this massive event and its multiple tie-in stories were mostly great, there were still a few elements that just didn't match up as strongly. With the dust now having settled for just on this event, it's with a heavy heart that the time has come to take a critical comb back through the pages and discuss ten things that nobody wants to admit about Spider-Verse.

It probably goes without saying, but spoilers for the whole of the Spider-Verse story will follow. Get out and read the thing before stepping further here; it may not have been perfect but Spider-Verse is damn well worth your time!

10. Weak Stories For Some Spiders That Deserved Better

Since the conflict brought all manner of spider-powered folk into the pages of the Spider-Verse, it was always likely that a few wonderful heroes or heroines wouldn't get as much of the limelight as they truly deserved.

Obviously this would be acceptable for some, but unfortunately some major characters were never really given a chance to shine in the story. Miles Morales, for example, was introduced fairly early before being pushed into relative obscurity in the supporting books. For the most part he was forced to accompany Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man hero and, while this did lead to some great moments in the TV series, it would have been nice to see Miles feature more heavily in the major developments.

Towards the end of the conflict Miles actually makes a comment to Peter about it being a shame they couldn't have spent more time together, and he's so right. It would've been great to see more of Miles' reactions to Peter's ability to command and make tough decisions, forcing Miles to ask more questions of his own heroic career as he matures into the role.
