Spider-Man: Homecoming - Michael Keaton BACK IN Negotiations

Talk about flip flopping...

Just when you thought we'd missed out on the spectacular possibility of Michael Keaton playing a Spider-Man villain, the former Batman star has let himself get tangled up in the web again.

After widespread reports that his negotiations to play the villain of the piece had stalled, it now seems that Keaton and Marvel Studios are in final negotiations for him to take the role.

THR say that Marvel's initial offer didn't get past that stage, and they moved on to other options before coming back to Keaton. He would follow Chris Evans in that respect, since the Cap actor initially balked at the chance of joining the MCU too.

There were rumours that Vulture was going to play a part in Homecoming and lots of people seem to have put two and two together and got Keaton playing him. Personally, I can't see it. The initial Vulture rumour suggested he would be the opening act villain, which makes sense, and it would fit more that Keaton would play someone bigger. Someone more classic.

Someone green?

Homecoming will be directed by Jon Watts, and will begin shooting in June. No wonder Marvel are pressing ahead with the deal now. Tom Holland will return after his film-stealing supporting role in Captain America: Civil War, and will be joined by Robert Downey Jr, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Laura Harrier.

Everything else about the plot is currently under wraps, but we can expect to hear more in the coming months.
