Joker made his first appearance in Batman issue number 1, which was published in 1940, only one year after Batman€™s debut in Detective Comic 27. The most iconic of villains has many iconic moments in the issue, not least of which are the introduction of the first victim of the Joker laughing gas, the first appearance of the Joker playing card, the murders at midnight which would play a recurring role in the mythos and the pure shock of his actual appearance. Based on the appearance of Conrad Veidt, specifically in the movie, The Man Who Laughs, Joker had a look all his own form the offset; malicious, evil and unhinged. Yet the most iconic moment is probably the end, not because of any specific act, but because it denotes the never ending battle which continues between the two and which entrances readers to this day.
