Following the monumental game-changer of a Marvel film known as Avengers: Infinity War, the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp, provides a fast and fun palate cleanser for superhero fans.

However, even though the film doesn't have the massive ensemble cast that Infinity War did, it's still chock-full of entertaining characters.

What's more is that a good portion of these characters have had long and rather illustrious careers on the pages of Marvel Comics (including one or two you may not expect), not to mention the more obscure faces who are bound to get a nod of approval from the diehard fans.

So, whether you've already seen Ant-Man and the Wasp and want just a bit more lore to add to your knowledge of superhero trivia, or you're still waiting for the film's UK release date to come and you just need something to tide you over (as well as possibly put you ahead of the curve), here's the rundown on where the film's most notable figures came from.

In The Comics:

Luis, Scott Lang's best friend and former cellmate, is actually an example of a character who was introduced to screens first, then brought into the comics later on. Luis made his first comic book appearance in The Astonishing Ant-Man #1, about four months after he was first portrayed by Michael Peña in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man.

Naturally, the comic book version of Luis bears Peña's likeness almost perfectly, with the key difference being that while the film version is well-known for his comedic rants, his comic book self is silent.

In The Film:

Peña reprises his role from Ant-Man, looking the same as he did back in 2015. However, he now dresses smart, given the fact that he is in charge of X-Con Security Consultants, a company he and Scott started with their posse from the previous film.

Although, while the comic book version of Luis had his same short haircut from the first film, we learn in Ant-Man and the Wasp that he actually had a slightly... different hairstyle when he was behind bars.
