Relax And Recover - An Olympian's Secret To Success

Your chance to win a £500 voucher from DFS

This is paid for competition for DFS.

The Rio Olympics are now less than 2 months away, and off the back of London 2012 the Great British public are hoping for another summer of gold medals and success. While for most of us there is an excitement that comes from seeing our stars compete on the highest stage amongst the world's most elite athletes, for the athletes themselves the games have been the sole focus of months and years of gruelling training.

Early morning starts, strict diet plans, and an ability to push yourself past what you think is your maximum are just some of the traits that all our sports stars will have had to demonstrate to get within a shot of Team GB. But to succeed what is also important is knowing how to use your time off wisely, to take the rest and recuperation that your body needs, and in learning to switch off. This year sofa giants DFS have become the proud official partner of Team GB, and will be travelling to South America to provide our British athletes with some of their most beloved home comforts

Speaking with a number of different stars from Team GB, they all cite how important it is for them to be able to step away from the lime light and behave normally. To highlight this DFS have released a number of videos from some of athletic's most recognisable names, who are looking to make an impact in Rio. They include gymnast Max Whitlock who credits his success to his supportive family, swimmer Adam Peaty who still lives at home with his parents, and cyclist Laura Trott who enjoys nothing more than a quiet night in watching Eastender.

You can watch the video above to get a brief look at how all three depend on their respective home lives to give them them the strength needed to compete. And you can read and watch more from all of the athletes by heading over to the DFS website.
