Brothers Gummi (Sigurjnsson) and Kiddi (Jlusson) live side by side, tending to their sheep. Their ancestral sheep-stock is considered one of the countrys best, and they are repeatedly awarded for their prized rams who carry an ancient lineage. However, although they share the land and a similar way of life, Gummi and Kiddi have not spoken to each other in four decades.

The entire valley comes under threat when a lethal disease suddenly infects Kiddis sheep. Delivering a near death sentence for the local farmers, the authorities decide to cull all the animals in thearea to contain the outbreak. In doing so they remove the only income which many of the farmers have, and so many of them decide to uproot and abandon their land.

Most of the farmers that is except Gummi and Kiddi, who try to stave off the disaster in their own respective ways; Kiddi by using his rifle, and Gummi by using his wits.As the authorities closein, thebrothers will need to come together to save both themselves and the special breedpasseddownfor generationsfrom extinction.
