10 Movie Flops You've Probably Forgotten

7. Ghost Town

Following a string of Hollywood bit parts, Ricky Gervais takes the lead in this disappointingly tame (and sentimental) comedy, playing a dentist who can communicate with ghosts.

You see, Ricky died for 7 minutes during an operation, and now he can see dead people including Greg Kinnear, who wants him to look out for his wife. So if you want to see The Sixth Sense done as a very, very mild romantic comedy, you’re in the right place.

Writer/director David Koepp is no stranger to this kind of material, having previously helmed Stir Of Echoes, 1999’s other movie about a young boy who can talk to ghosts. Ghost Town went belly up at the box office, grossing only $26 million worldwide, but don’t expect to see it develop a cult following – it’s too blah for that to happen.
