Chris Evans Wants Captain America In Spider-Man: Homecoming

But don't expect him in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2...

In light of the Internet's recent fascination with who Captain America is putting his parts in, you'd be forgiven for forgetting that Chris Evans still has a contract that has actual real world ramifications in the rest of the MCU. So while everyone continues to ship the boys fromBrooklyn as a romantic couple, he'll no doubt be gearing up and pounding the treadmill to stay in shape for what he does next.

That very question came up in conversation with MTV News, when he was asked where he'd like to see Steve Rogers (remember, he's not actually Captain America any more). He offered two semi-teases, the first sounding more like a fantasy casting than anything else:

"Guardians would be fun, wouldnt it? But its very outer spacey. Caps more of an Earth-bound guy."

Even if he has those aspirations, James Gunn has already ruled out any humans appearing in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, as well as categorically ruling out any appearance by IronMan in sequels. I'm not so sure he's even keen on cross-pollination with the Avengers unless it has to happen, as in Infinity War.

Evans also teased another more likely scenario (slightly at least)...

"Maybe the next Spider-Mans.Those are going to be fantastic, and I think Tom s just a great actor, so that might be a fun one to pop up into."

With Civil War still raging, and Spider-Man being a key player in the comic books, it would make sense for Cap to try and align him with the underground Avengers rather than letting himself be registered. After all, as the comics proved, giving away your secret identity does nothing but put your loved ones in the firing line.

Cap's future at the minute is unclear. It makes most sense that the first Infinity War movie - which is of course set to be retitled - will focus on the Secret Avengers underground, withSteve Rogers effectively reborn as Nomad. From there, the Avengers will inevitably be drawn back together to face Thanos before the climax of the second film.

Personally, Ican't see Cap turning up anywhere else. He's too valuable a target, and Spidey is probably still too close to Tony Stark to make an attempt to change his allegiance. But it's the narrative directionI would most like to see.
