If you didnt already know that Game Of Thrones was the bloodiest show on TV before the start of season 6, the break-neck speed of culling in this terms 5 episodes so far will have confirmed it.

Having built somewhat slowly over the past two seasons, wading through politics and exposition, its almost like the show-makers have realised theyre running out of time to tie all the lose ends together. That panic seems to have opened the door for the Grim Reaper to take targets without mercy or restraint, with no fewer than 14 major deaths already.

In narrative terms, death has always played an important role in Game Of Thrones, and as we hurtle towards the two great wars in Westeros, it seems inevitable well be seeing more favourites killed off. Luckily, were all sadists who thrive on such blood-letting, and positively live to rank them in order.

So, with importance, poignancy and execution in mind, here are how all of the major deaths in Game Of Thrones season 6 so far rank

14. Areo Hotah

So much for being Dornes most fearsome warrior.

Hotah was unceremoniously bumped off without saying so much as two words courtesy of a Sand Snake blade between his shoulder blades. It was an unjustly abrupt end for a promising character and its a bloody travesty that he didnt get to show off his fighting skills.

But then thats what happens when a show is written into a corner that needs to be sorted out swiftly - there are casualties who deserve a hell of a lot better. In the end it wasnt really a blade that killed Hotah, it was being stuck in the worst sub-plot in the entire show.
