Game Of Thrones: There's Another "Holy Sh*t" Moment Coming

If it's all a dream, we riot.

If you've spent the last week quietly crying yourself to sleep over poor Hodor and suffering PTSD every time someone asks you to "hold the door", you'll no doubt be delighted to hear that it was only the second of three massively shocking Game Of Thrones moments George RR Martin passed on to the show-makers.

The first was the sacrifice of Shireen by Stannis Baratheon, the second was Hodor's big, devastating moment, and incredibly the third wasn't Jon Snow returning from the dead. Because that's just the sort of casual day to day thing that always happens in Westeros, obviously.

According to show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss the third "holy sh moment" - as they called it in an interview with EW - "is from the very end."

Obviously, the HBO team have in the past suggested that they aren't spoiling the books, but Martin's revelation of these three key details clearly means they're closely tied to what happens on the page. The rest might well flow a little differently, but it seems inevitable that those are fixed points in time.

People are talking about whether the books are going to be spoiled and its really not true. So much of what were doing diverges from the books at this point. And while there are certain key elements that will be the same, were not going to talk so much about that and I dont think George is either. People are going to be very surprised when they read the books after the show. Theyre quite divergent in so many respects for the remainder of the show.

It would be a shame if the books were entirely spoiled, given the wait we've had for them to be released, but it does sound like there'll be more than enough in there to warrant still buying them even if the show ends before they hit shelves.

So what's the end-game "holy sh*t moment"? Is it all a dream? Is Bran the Lord Of Light? Are they all living inside a Matrix? Or will everyone just die and leave Tormund and Brienne finally alone to eat meat seductively and make giant, aggressive babies? Time will tell.
