Kevin Feige Fought A "Mighty Fight" To Get Captain Marvel Made

So says Joss Whedon, who won't be directing it.

According to former Avengers director Joss Whedon, who appeared at the HeForShe Media Summit, KevinFeige is the man who needs to be thanked for getting CaptainMarvel off the ground.

The Wrap - who covered the Summit - say he definitely won't be directing the upcoming project - which remains director-less and cast-less - but that he's glad to see a woman leading a superhero movie, and gave credit to Feige for getting the project into development:

Kevin Feigefought a mighty fight to get her on the schedule. So its a start. You could say that should be a middle, but its a start."

Apparently that's not a dig at Marvel, but at Hollywood in general, though it's really one and the same thing. Hollywood needs flag-bearers like Marvel and Disney to work the hardest on progressive movements, so Feige's "mighty fight" counts a little more.

And that should put paid to the accusations that Feige was trying to push CaptainMarvel out of the MCU along with Inhumans. If it's his personal project that he's fought for, there's very little chance he's going to roll over on it.
