When he isn't lighting up the box office as Magneto in the X-Men franchise, Michael Fassbender can often be found appearing in quality independent films where he gets to flex his acting muscles.

Having explored the dark side of sex addiction in Shame and portrayed a cruel, violent slave owner in 10 Years A Slave, he's now set to appear as serial killer Jack Unterweger in Entering Hades.

Based on the true crime book Entering Hades: The Double Life Of A Serial Killer by John Leake, the film tells the story of Unterweger's life as an acclaimed author who investigated murders by day and killed people at night. No less than 11 prostitutes were murdered around the world, leading to an international investigation which led to his eventual capture.

With Oscar-winning Birdman screenwriter Alexander Dinelaris working on the adaptation, expectations for a solidly constructed thriller are high, while production of the film being handled by Broad Green Pictures (responsible for €œA Walk in the Woods,€ €œ99 Homes,€ €œI Smile Back€ and €œKnight of Cups€) and Storyscape Entertainment, in conjunction with Fassbender's own company DMC Film.

With X-Men: Apocalypse hitting theatres soon and Assassin's Creed wrapped, Fassbender's career continues to pick up pace. In addition to Entering Hades fans can look forward to another crime thriller The Snowman, due for release in 2017, and Terrence Malick's upcoming Weightless. Meanwhile, shooting of Alien: The Covenant is currently underway.
