9. T2: Trainspotting
Trainspotting 2 has been on the boil for years now, but few seemed to believe it would actually happen. Ewan McGregor said for years it wouldn’t, due to not liking follow-up novel Porno and falling out with Danny Boyle after being tossed off The Beach in favour of Leonardo DiCaprio.
That’s all been sorted now, and a sequel to one of the most iconic films of the nineties is arriving 2017. Any fears fans had were put to ease with the first trailer, which had the characters – older but no wiser – reuniting and struggling to find their place in modern society. It mixes Boyle’s typical cinematic flair with a returning cast picking up where they left off twenty years before.
It looks fantastic and should be a fitting companion piece to the first movie. When Boyle is on form he’s hard to beat, and all the ingredients are here for greatness.
