10 Actors Who Were Cruelly Shafted By Franchise Reboots

10. George Clooney - Batman And Robin

Look, there€™s no delicate way to say this: Batman and Robin was bad. Really bad. An abomination, some might say. Not only is it considered one of the worst superhero movies of all time (as well as a horrible piece of filmmaking in general), but it nearly killed the Batman film franchise (and did indeed kill THAT particular franchise). If Batman Begins had never been released, our last memory of Gotham City's protector on film would have been him wearing Bat-nipples and breaking out the Bat-credit card. However, for George Clooney, the journey was meant to continue. During filming of Batman and Robin, plans for a fifth film were put into motion. Titled Batman Triumphant, the story would have featured the Scarecrow as the main villain along with Harley Quinn, who was written as the Joker€™s daughter seeking revenge for her father€™s death. Chris O€™Donnell and Alicia Silverstone would have reprised their roles as well, but after the negative reviews Batman and Robin received, the project was iced (apologies for the cold pun). After Triumphant was passed over, another script was looked at titled Batman: DarKnight. The story, featuring Scarecrow and Man-Bat as the main villains, would have shown Batman coming out of retirement to clear his name. However, this was also passed over. At this point, Warner Bros. decided to restart the series, which eventually gave us Batman Begins in 2005. So while fans and the general audience may thank the comic gods that Batman and Robin was never followed up on, for George Clooney, it meant he never got to play the Caped Crusader again. However, considering how his career is going these days, we really shouldn't feel bad for him.
