10 Actors From Classic Hollywood Who Could Have Played Superheroes

10. Wonder Woman/ Ingrid Bergman

Wonder Bergman Wonder Woman has long been considered one of the most difficult superheroes to properly create onscreen. Although she got a somewhat popular TV series in the 70's, the closest someone has gotten to making a standalone movie is probably Joss Whedon, who at one point was hired by Warner Bros to write and adapt one. One of the biggest difficulties in a Wonder Woman movie would be casting the right actress. Not only would she have to be a good enough actress to carry an entire movie, she has to look the part as well and that's a rare combination that only a few actresses possess. Ingrid Bergman was one of classical Hollywood's greatest actresses; she combined incredible beauty with once-in-a-lifetime talent that resulted in three Academy Award wins. In addition, she showed a keen eye for scripts and directors, working with legends such as Alfred Hitchcock, Roberto Rossellini, and Ingmar Bergman and appearing in a bevy of classic roles such as Casablanca and Notorious. Bergman would be a perfect choice for Wonder Woman as she combined both the physical beauty and the confident screen presence needed for the character. As a bonus, Bergman's Swedish background gave her an exotic edge that perfectly mirrors Wonder Woman's Amazonian roots.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
