10 Actors Tarantino Rescued From The Scrap Heap (But Who Fell Back Down Anyway)

There are many patterns in Quentin Tarantino€™s body of work, from obsessive shots of female feet to obscure pop culture references. One of the director€™s most noticeable trends across his seven films to date, however, from 1992€™s Reservoir Dogs to 2009€™s Inglorious Basterds, is his knack for casting actors who€™ve been lacking in success and recognition for many years, bringing them back to the forefront of public attention. Such a tactic resurrected the career of John Travolta, who had all but faded into obscurity when Tarantino cast him in the role of Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, but who has remained a regular fixture on cinema screens to this day since. The director€™s latest film, Django Unchained, scheduled for release on Christmas Day, shows no sign of breaking the trend, with its cast including names of yesteryear such as The Warriors€™ James Remar and Miami Vice€™s Don Johnson alongside contemporary stars such as Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson. If the film proves a hit, the likes of Remar and Johnson could find themselves offered regular work once more, but like many actors other than Travolta, they may once again sink into obscurity, forced to ply their trade in b-movies and television, much like the ten individuals on this list found themselves doing a short while after their respective films with the director.
