10 Actors Who Must Regret Turning Down 2015’s Biggest Movies

3. Natalie Portman - Macbeth

The Role: Macbeth's (Michael Fassbender) duplicitous wife, Lady Macbeth, who was finally played by Marion Cotillard after Natalie Portman dropped out for unknown reasons. Why They Regret Turning It Down: Portman has kept herself fairly busy, but none of her upcoming releases seem a might as interesting as this fiery adaptation of The Bard's play turned out to be. Cotillard received wide acclaim for her performance, and considering that Portman's not been up to much of interest since her 2010 Oscar win for Black Swan, this would've re-affirmed her acting prowess. Would It Have Worked?: Yes, but Cotillard was definitely a better fit for the part. Portman looks too youthful and "cute" when stood next to Fassbender, whereas Cotillard has a little more in the way of gravitas.
