Still the youngest man to ever win the Academy Award for best Actor, at the age of 29 Adrien Brody seemed to have the world at his feet. Instead of fulfilling his potential and establishing himself as one of the finest actors of his generation, the 44 year-old is now a largely forgotten figure in Hollywood with only his collaborations with Wes Anderson serving as a recent reminder of his undoubted talents.

Somewhere along the line, it seems that someone tried to convince Brody that he needed to be a movie star, not just an actor, and his career suffered as a result. As well as taking roles in The Village, King Kong and Predators, Brody publicly declared his interest in the high-profile roles of the Joker and Spock in The Dark Knight and Star Trek respectively.

Just fifteen years after winning an Academy Award, Brody finds himself slumming it in critically-savaged straight-to-video genre movies and starring alongside John Cusack in Chinese-financed historical epics.

His work with Wes Anderson and Woody Allen proves that Brody is still capable of a committed performance when motivated, and he is young enough that there is still time to rejuvenate his career on the independent scene before he descends into Nicolas Cage levels of self-parody.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
