10 Actors Who Should Replace Cavill As Superman

7. Matthew Goode

Back when Cavill was hired to play Superman for Man Of Steel, rumours emerged that it was Watchmen's Matthew Goode that he'd beaten to the role and he was said to have been the studio's back-up option.

Surely that means that he's under consideration now that there's room for a new actor to step into the role? How long do those sorts of back-up retainers last exactly?

There may be some backlash to Warner Bros again hiring a Brit, but Goode certainly has the right credentials to play the Man of Steel, particularly with his past work on Watchmen. Adrian Veidt may not have been the closest character to Superman in terms of his writing, but there was a certain poise to him that you could see ported across.

He'd also really look the part as Clark Kent, which is an under-appreciated consideration for Superman casting these days.
