10 Actors Who Suffered The Most In 2016

4. Jack Huston

Johnny Depp Alice
Warner Bros. Pictures

Jack Huston’s movie star potential was there for all to see on Boardwalk Empire, where he played Richard Harrow, an assassin with half his face missing thanks to a war injury. He's equally badass and sympathetic, so once he left the show all he needed was a good movie role to make him a star.

He had next to no luck on that front. He – like half of Hollywood it seems – was attached to The Crow remake, before finally backing out in 2015 when it went nowhere. Things were looking up when he became the lead in Ben-Hur; until anyone with half a brain could see remaking that for modern audiences was a dumb move.

That prophecy came true and the movie bombed hard during summer 2016, with most analysts pinning it on Huston’s lack of star power. Sadly his other movie – Pride And Prejudice And Zombies – also failed to light up box-office tills.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
