Pixars films are truly entertaining, with the power to make mass audiences worldwide feel happy and uplifted, as well as make us go on a roller-coaster journey in which we laugh, cry and feel extreme joy, all in under 100 minutes. In recent years many people have believed that Pixar, the film studio that could once do no wrong, have finally started to lose steam both artistically with Cars 2, and also commercially with Brave, a film not very well received for Pixars standards. I still see these films as successes in their own right.
Though the Cars franchise cannot be viewed and enjoyed by older audiences in the same way the likes of Toy Story and Finding Nemo can, there is no doubt that the financial success of those films have been extremely positive for both Pixar and Disney, and when it comes to Pixars much younger fans, the stars of Cars like Lightening McQueen and Mater are probably as popular, if not more popular than the likes of Buzz and Woody and Mike and Sully.
The success of Cars, in terms of it being entertaining for their desired younger audience, can be seen with the sheer amount of Cars merchandise around, as well as the hugely successful Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure. When it comes to the not-well-received Brave, I have always seen it as Pixars attempt at a classic Disney Princess tale, and for me it was a great film that had the wit and beautiful animation that I come to expect from Pixar, as well as the charm and nostalgia of Disneys most iconic and memorable princess films.
Following on from a similar article I wrote in which I focused on the villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I will now be focusing on the villains of the Pixar Universe, as for me, a film and its heroes are only as good as its villains.
As Pixar has continuously impressed and entertained me in one way or another with all of their films, be it their long running franchises like Toy Story, or incredibly original films like Up, Wall-E and Ratatouille, I feel the villains of these beautiful pieces of animation should get the praise and attention they so truly deserve.
So without further ado, here are the 10 most awesome Pixar villains, and SPOILERS FOLLOW...
