7. Jake Lloyd (The Phantom Menace)

Another ill-advised George Lucas casting decision finds its way onto our list with Jake Lloyd’s derided turn as the young Anakin Skywalker in 1999′s infamous Phantom Menace. The anticipation for The Phantom Menace, the first Star Wars picture to be released since 1983′s Return of the Jedi, had built up for so long it would have been almost impossible for the picture to live up to the hype. When eager audiences got their first look at the young Anakin Skywalker, they greeted him with ridicule.

While it may be unfair to lay all the blame on Lloyd’s wooden acting at the feet of the child actor, Lloyd’s lack of screen presence and charisma made it hard engage with character and got the prequel trilogy off to a bad start it never fully recovered from. Like his older analogue Hayden Christensen, Lloyd’s portrayal of Anakin Skywalker earned him a Golden Raspberry nomination for Worst Supporting Actor.
