A power ballad that takes place in her underwater grotto, Ariel's signature song has become iconic due to Jodi Benson's memorable performance, the whimsical lyrics that includes the words “thingamabobs” and “whatzits”, and not least the scenes that sees Ariel gazing longingly up towards the surface where she wants to be – part of that world.
In spite of her royal status, her fascination with the human world and her dissatisfaction with her current environment is shown through this song, bringing to light her utmost desire to be part of something new entirely.
