One of the very first scenes in the movie has government official Bill Randa (John Goodman) turn up to Washington to plead his case for an expedition to Skull Island.

As he's dropped off, he quips, "Washington will never be as screwed up as it is now", a line that was actually added in reshoots last September, shortly before the U.S. presidential election.

Goodman said of the line, "I thought it was a little too on the head...I didn't think it would make it in because a little too much on the head. But I guess it got a laugh, which is why I don't write comedy."

It may not be subtle, but it sure is funny.
