10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (May 10)

Community RIP (2009-2014)

Another week, another wave of TV and movie news to dissect and discuss! This week we actually have more going on in the world of the small screen than in the silver screen as Tinsletown's biggest networks are busy announcing their May upfronts; that is what new shows they'll be picking up, renewing, and cancelling for the 2014-2015 season. ABC, NBC, Fox, The CW, and CBS have all chimed in, and we have a few exciting choices to talk about here. We also have word about that Halo series that Steven Spielberg is producing, and updates on the future of Star Trek 3 now that JJ Abrams has taken a trip to the galaxy far, far away; and news about a Spring Breakers sequel that's as surprising as the first film itself. Additionaly, we got word that Universal is having trouble bringing the Mummy franchise back from the dead (again), and updates on Fantastic Four and.. a Flintstones movie! Cool, huh? That should provide us with plenty to talk about this week, but before we get started let's take a look at some of the smaller stories that graced our news feeds this past week:

Honourable Mentions

Orange is the New Black Renewed For Season 3! Thanks a lot, Netflix, for reminding us that we're still dying for the premiere of season two! LeBron James and Method Man Join Judd Apatow's Trainwreck. Apparently they haven't seen the Gary Oldman-hosted PSA about Actors Against Acting Athletes. Ben Affleck's Live By Night adaptation pushed to 2016. Apparently he'll be too busy playing some guy named Batman in some little indie movie called Batman Vs. Superman. Way to prioritize, Ben! Gerard Butler Drops Out Of Point Break Remake. Finally, he's come to his senses. Rebel Wilson Leads Private Benjamin Remake. Why not just cast Kate Hudson? She's the daughter of Goldie Hawn, and a dead ringer! Oh well, you can't win 'em all. Star Wars VII To Be Called An Ancient Fear? At this point it's doubtful any title won't be cheesy, or torn apart by fans of the franchise. Though this one just begs to be parrodied with things like "The Ancient Fear? More like The Ancient Cast! Amiright?!" John Goodman and Ken Watanabe Will Voice Autobots in Transformers: Age of Extinction. Too bad their distinctive voices will be auto-tuned beyond recognition (read: Hugo Weaving as Megatron) A Bananaman Movie Is In The Works. Seriously, I couldn't make this stuff up. #PeelthePower
