10. Steven Soderbergh Will Shoot And Edit Magic Mike XXL

Magic Mike Well, so much for retirement, eh Steven Soderbergh? Shortly after the director announced that he wouldn't be making any more films, he turned around and made Behind the Candleabra for HBO, then made a stage play and helped edit Her for Spike Jonze. Now, he's returning for the Magic Mike sequel, though he won't be in the director's chair this time around. Instead, his longtime assistant director Greg Jacobs will be calling the shots, while Soderbergh will act as cinematographer, camera operator, and editor. The news came from star and co-writer Channing Tatum himself during an interview with GQ:
€œIt€™s super complicated, in my opinion, why he wanted to stop doing film. I lobbied probably harder than anybody else€”we had many, many nights of heated debate. I was, €˜I don€™t fucking get it! Why?€™ And he€™s like, €˜I don€™t need it.€™€ However, Soderbergh will be back to not only be the camera operator, but director of photography, as well as editor. Soderbergh says, €œI want to be there, but I don€™t want to be the director. I want to be a part of it. I want to be in the band, but I just don€™t want to be the frontman this time.€
