Deadpool as a character is pretty much founded on the idea of surprising audiences. His entire appeal is to be able to break the fourth wall and do things that other characters never could.

The Deadpool films took this to heart, and this summer's sequel spent the vast majority of its runtime attempting to surprise audiences. From killing off Vanessa before the opening credits to the inclusion of Juggernaut, its entire narrative was essentially sculpted around shocks.

But easily the most effective of any of Deadpool 2's ticks is the X-Force fake out. After building them up in the trailers with plenty of screen-time, the actual X-Force team is only in the film for about five minutes. Immediately after jumping out of the helicopter, everyone other than Deadpool and Domino meet grisly ends.

Out of all the ways they die, the funniest is also one of the simplest. The Vanisher, who has been invisible for the entirety of the sequence, lands on some power lines, electrocuting himself. And it is here that it is revealed that Brad Pitt is playing the part.

His face is only on screen for a matter of seconds, leading many viewers to question if what they had seen was even real. But sure enough, it's Pitt in all of his glory.
