10 Bizarre Events That Took Place In First Drafts Of Famous Movies

6. Star Wars - Luke Punches Leia

Star_Wars_Episode_VII_37033 Star Wars is one of the most iconic movies in the Sci-Fi genre. With a plot that spawned different sequels, prequels and spin-offs, great characters and incredible action sequences, Star Wars was definitely a game changer. And it whenever you feel about George Lucas, you have to admit that the man is a genius. However, the first draft of Star Wars was a very different thing from the end result. For starters the plot of the movie was much more political than the end result (much like Frank Herbert's Dune novels) some characters had different names (Luke was called Anakin Starkiller, Luke Skywalker was some general, and the emperor was called Cos Dashit) and while most of the plot remains similar, some things changed completely. Luke, or Anakin on this version was a far more different character than the one we met, in the original script he was an 18 year old teenager who became a Jedi after joining the rebellion. However he was a rather unlikely character, and this idea was reinforced when he punches Leia in the face and knocks her out. How much it would have changed the film? I presume that it doesn't matter the circumstance, nobody would have approved that Starkiller punched a 14 year old Leia in the face. I mean, she wasn't even working for the Empire or something like that, she was just having a discussion with him. When I'm talking to someone and they say something I disagree with I usually don't punch them in the face. Thankfully Lucas rewrote the script, and created one of the greatest Sci-Fi sagas ever made. You have to wonder if the original script would have had the same impact the movie ended up having. Most likely it would be remembered as a cool 80's movie that had no impact, and most likely it would end up being remade. But, if somehow the movie was successful, I can't imagine how the sequels would have been
