10 Blatantly Racist Movies

9. White Dog

White Dog is a challenging film that at least is self-aware in its depiction of racism, even if it doesn't exactly manage to rise above the lurid content of the film. The premise is a doozy; a deranged, psychopathic white man trains his titular white dog to attack and murder black people, at least until he is rescued by a kindly black man, who endeavours to undo this savage training. In this stead, however, he ends up accidentally training it to kill white people, after which the dog is unfortunately shot and killed. While it seems to comment largely on the madness of race relations, the fact that the dog is shot only after he has savagely killed whites - but nobody seemed to much care when they were black - is unsettling, and the film doesn't seem to broach that fact as much as it could have. Still, it is an interesting and challenging film that somewhat confounds expectations, even if its commentary needs a little fine-tuning.
