10 Bold Predictions For Future DC Movies

They seem eager to surprise us, after all.

Of all the bombshells the Warner Bros/DC movies have laid on us, the casting of JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League is without a doubt the most... recent. I doubt many will dispute that the last person we'd expect to see cast in a high profile superhero movie supporting role is an actor who's already synonymous with a high profile superhero movie supporting role. Simmons' casting as J Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies was beyond perfect, making it almost impossible to envisage another actor taking that role. much less Simmons himself moving on to play another character renowned for grumbling at a superhero (don't get me wrong, I've no doubt he'll be a terrific Gordon). But again, this is by no means the first big shocker the fledgling DC Extended Universe has hit fans with. Ben Affleck as an elder Batman, anyone? Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman? Jared Leto as a tattooed Joker? And perhaps least expected of all, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor? Nobody saw any of that coming. And we haven't even got to the content of the films themselves yet. We've already seen Henry Cavill's Superman break one of the character's cardinal rules by breaking General Zod's neck; meanwhile, trailer footage from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice would appear to show Batman using guns, which again tends not to be the character's usual MO. With all this in mind, it could almost be anyone's guess as to where the DC movies will go from here. They seem eager to cover as much ground up front with Batman V Superman as they can, with Suicide Squad set to broaden that story world further via a bunch of less obvious bad guy characters, so it may be that we see other, even more unexpected areas of the DC comics universe up on screen in the not-too distant future. Does this mean any of the following will prove true? We can but wait and see...
