10 Box Office Hits From 2014 Which Should Have Bombed

10. Let's Be Cops

Budget: $17 million Box office: $125 million Two deadbeat friends dressing up as cops for a fancy dress party and getting carried away with their roles sounds like a reasonable enough premise for a comedy, and if handled well Let's Be Cops certainly could have turned out to be one of the year's better comedies. Stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. have demonstrated their on-screen chemistry in New Girl so hopes were reasonably high for more than a few laughs. Unfortunately, Let's Be Cops failed to capitalise on both its leading men and its premise and ended up being one of those comedies where everything funny was seen in the trailer. Unfortunately everything else wouldn't look out of place in a sub-standard Adam Sandler movie, which is hardly a ringing endorsement of quality. Far better to check out 22 Jump Street, where Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill demonstrate how to do the comedic cops routine with much more wit and style.
