10 Brilliant Films That Are Easy Targets For Haters

Some people just love to hate for the sake of it.

Let’s face it - the world is filled with people who just love to hate. From opposing sports teams to the other political party and everything in between, it often seems like a certain demographic of humans simply aren't happy unless they're steaming mad at something.

But while hating on the government may be understandable, sometimes this unstoppable rage-splosion gets directed at things that are innocuous at best and downright stupid at worst.

For instance, why do people hate Kim Kardashian? Seriously, what has she done that was so detrimental that so many people feel the need to swarm social media posts and voice their disapproval? Sure, maybe a few people have a legitimate reasons, but for the most part her naysayers simply got caught up in the hater tsunami and don't even know how they got there.

This same line of reasoning also translates to the world of cinema - films that certainly have their fair share of flaws, but the flaws in question aren't nearly as extensive as your typical keyboard warrior would lead you to believe.

Whether they weren't what the audience was expecting or a few negative reviews calibrated everyone's general opinion to the point of absurdity, these films are hated, more often than not, purely because it's the cool thing to do. See if you agree.

10. Prometheus (2012)

Ridley Scott’s return to the genre that made him a household name was inevitably going to be overhyped. Was it really possible for Prometheus to live up to such a feat? However, despite being considered by many to be the biggest disappointment of 2012 and a film bursting at the seams with plot holes and inconsistencies, Prometheus remains an entertaining and occasionally dazzling piece of filmmaking.

As frustrating as Damon Lindelof’s screenwriting is at times, he deserves credit for his attempt to make a film that touches on some fairly big themes - like religion, identity, and man’s place in the universe.

The film is buoyed by excellent performances from the cast – with Michael Fassbender being the standout – extremely impressive CGI and outstanding cinematography. Scott brings his trademark visual flair to the film and it's certainly one of the best looking blockbusters in recent history.

If you're able to look at Prometheus without considering its connections to the Alien franchise (which are tenuous at best) you'll begin to view it in a new light. Overall, it was refreshing to see a modern blockbuster with a willingness to try something as thematically bold as Prometheus - even if it did backfire to a certain extent.
