Even if you put aside all the villains they've played over the years, the number of British comedians that achieve trans-altlantic success is countless. Long before Simon Pegg boarded the Enterprise and Martin Freeman left the shire, the legendary Peter Sellers was working alongside the likes of Stanley Kubrick for example. John Cleese has also popped up in more films than you shake a stick at. Thanks to Warner Bros. filming the Harry Potter franchise right here in Blighty, one of the most successful film series is also one that is absolutely full to the brim of British actors, many of them comedians, like Dawn French. Whether they appeared in these or not though, there are also those comedians who have made several appearances in big-budget American films, but who generally seem quite content to stay this side of the Atlantic. Unfortunately in this fickle day and age however, fads come and go, and the shelf life for a blockbuster isn't what it once was.
