After spending far too much time on Inhumans that no one either knows or cares about, Agents of SHIELD looks to finally be moving into some other areas in the current season, namely the dark side of the MCU. Not only has Ghost Rider appeared on the series, but we've also now seen the Darkhold.

While its origins in the show have yet to be fully revealed, in the comics the Darkhold (also called the Book of Sins) is a grimoire written by Chthon, a demonic Elder God. It contains all his collected knowledge of magic and is so powerful that not even Merlin could destroy it.

In the 90s, Marvel briefly published a comic as part of its Midnight Sons line called Darkhold: Pages From The Book of Sins. A demonic dwarf was passing around pages from the Darkhold, which could grant powerful wishes in exchange for a person's soul.

Victoria Montesi, whose family was designated as guardians of the Darkhold, joins with an occult expert and an Interpol agent to seek out the pages and prevent the spread of their power.

A Darkhold series would be a really interesting change from most of what we've seen out of Marvel so far. One part Supernatural, one part Poltergeist: The Legacy, it'd be a great venue to explore the supernatural.
