10 Characters Who Will Probably Die In 2020's Biggest Movies

Red Guardian? More like... Dead Guardian.

The Gentlemen
Miramax

Even when a movie has fantastic action sequences and terrific acting from start to finish, it's usually the death scenes that stick with us the longest, especially if it's a character we have great admiration for.

Apologies for bringing these deeply traumatic memories back to the surface, but who could forget Wolverine's death in Logan? Mufasa's death in The Lion King? Tony's death in Endgame? Han Solo's death in The Force Awakens? The T-800's sacrifice at the end of Terminator 2?

Morbid though it is to point out, we've been watching people suffer and die (on-screen) throughout our entire lives, and there's a unique appeal in watching a satisfying character arc come to a saddening halt, or seeing a villain's sinister plan crumble into dust before the hero slays them.

Looking ahead to 2020, there are a whole bunch of characters primed to join the memorable movie deaths hall of fame. As much as we'd all enjoy watching James Corden's Peter Rabbit get crucified in flames, that probably won't happen, and it's these characters who are much more likely to be dead by the time 2021 rolls around.

10. Druig (Barry Keoghan) - The Eternals

The Gentlemen
Warner Bros.

The Eternals has an absolutely huge cast of characters, with Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani and Brain Tyree Henry all jumping aboard the project over the last several months.

The fact that there are so many different faces involved means that the movie has a lot of options when it comes to choosing who to bump off, but since he's being set up as the bad guy of the piece (he opposes the Eternals in the comics, and will be involved with the evil Deviants in the film), Druig is one of the more likely candidates.

Marvel movies don't always draw from the source material, but in the nineteenth issue of The Eternals, Druig is defeated by Ikaris (Madden's character in the film), which could be something that's used here. While Keoghan is a talented actor, he's obviously not as big a name as Jolie, Madden, Harington or Nanjiani, and it's not like he'd be a massive loss in terms of star power credibility if his character wasn't in any sequels.

Plus, looking at the last decade of Marvel movies, the villains in origin stories are usually killed off: Obadiah Stane, The Destroyer, Ronan the Accuser, Yellowjacket, Kaecilius and Killmonger all died in their respective movies, so purely by looking at the numbers, there's a high chance that Druig will join their deceased ranks.
