10 Child Actors Who Reinvented Themselves With Very Adult Roles

8. Hilary Duff - War, Inc.

First Look StudiosFirst Look StudiosHilary Duff was part of the original wave of Disney Channel stars, before Hannah Montana came around and all of a sudden all the shows were about aspiring singers (you can already see the tide start to turn by the time The Lizzie McGuire Movie came out, and they created a contrived story line which would allow Duff to sing). She starred on Lizzie McGuire, the story of an average girl in middle school, which was amongst the most consistently high quality Disney shows. But once she got to a certain age, she couldn't really pass for the middle/high school attractive outsider character that her image was centered around. So she decided to break out into the adult world with a performance in War Inc, a political satire starring John Cusack. She played an over-sexed Central Asian pop star named Yonica Babyyeah (for real, that's her name). Highlights include her putting a live scorpion down her pants and singing a song called "I Want to Blow You...Up" and yes, it did involve a ridiculous accent. Unfortunately for Hilary, the film didn't do particularly well with critics or audiences. But it did prove once and for all that Hilary Duff is not afraid of stepping outside her comfort zone.
