9. Tyler Durden in Fight Club (1999)
If you just obey the first rule of Fight Club then everything will be fine... Fight Club is ultimately the story of an individual (Edward Norton as Jack) who is tortured into manhood by his hyper-masculine alter-ego (Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden) as a means of rejecting the feminized consumerist nature of capitalism. Therefore, Jack and Tylers mentally mutual Fight Club address societal concerns such as: corporal hegemony, individualism, and (male) sexuality, by means of excessive sado-masochistic violence on oneself; which finally results in Jacks symbolic suicidal attempt as the ultimate gratification. So basically, Tyler was only trying to help Jack 'Man Up' and get to grips with his recessing reality, even if it did mean using extremely violent solutions...
