9. Aliens Speaking English
Twentieth Century FoxOn a similar but even more ludicrous note than the last entry, how on Earth is it that so many aliens who visit our planet come from planets where language has evolved in exactly the same way to those of our planet's English-speaking countries? The Silver Surfer and various other comic book movie characters are good examples of this (General Zod and his buddies, all the characters in the Green Lantern movie and the characters in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy etc), as well as "prot" in K-Pax, "Klaatu" in Day the Earth Stood Still and countless others, but the prime example would be just about every single character in Star Wars (though obviously not all of them). Apparently, modern English had reached the far corners of the galaxy before even the people of Earth were speaking it - miraculous, huh?! In some cases, it could be put down to having studied our planet from afar or reading our documents (though how the latter works is beyond us) but, in most cases, it's nothing more than convenient nonsense.
