10 Creepy Movie Moments That Gave Us Nightmares As Kids

who framged It's a well-known fact that all children are cowards. They cry all the time, and as far as I know there aren't a hell of a lot of decorated war heroes under the age of ten. Frankly, I don't get what all the fuss over them is about. But, in their defense, their lives aren't all candy canes and pogo sticks. In addition to being so small that half of them require phone books to even be able to sit at a human-sized dinner table, the child of today has to deal with a plethora of terrors embedded within seemingly innocent films. So grab your pacifiers and set your speed-dials to "Mommy" as we dive into some scary moments from children's movies.

10. The Skeksis

the skekis I grew up on the Muppets. From Big Bird to Kermit the Frog, Fozzie's hack one-liners to the chaotic commune of Fraggle Rock, I couldn't get enough of those lovable muppety bast***s. Then I saw the Dark Crystal. The villains of Jim Henson's 1982 muppet epic are on a quest to attain immortality through dark arts and the use of what could only be referred to as "crab people". While a corrupt tribe of tyrants from the planet Thra should be frightening enough, that is probably only number fourteen on a long list of why the Skeksis kept me up at night as a child. Most Muppets are relatively harmless appearing, and when it comes to characters like Elmo or Camilla the Chicken, they could at times be downright adorable. That's not the situation with the Skeksis. The fact that these monsters look like half-vultures and half-snapping turtles that dress like gypsies is enough to ruin a full night's sleep for any child who was just on the lookout for some Dr. Bunsen Honeydew bits.
