10 Cringe-Worthy But Iconic James Bond One-Liners

9. "Named after your father perhaps?"

Diamonds Are Forever (1971)Sean Connery as James Bond Breasty Bond Girl Plenty O'Toole (played by Lana Wood) has one of the most memorable introductions in the Bond-series. Miss O'Toole leans over and presents herself to Bond at the craps table whilst gambling... Plenty O'Toole: "Hi, I'm Plenty." James Bond: "But of course you are." Plenty O'Toole: "Plenty O'Toole." Bond: "Named after your father perhaps?" Aside from questioning her fictitious parents' choice of such a ridiculous name, 'Plenty' (from Bond's eye contact) in this case clearly refers to the size of her buxom bosom. After Bond's eyes have feasted on the brimming buffet, Plenty adds her surname is 'O'Toole'. Bond's response openly suggests her father is a tool. 'Tool' meaning a man who often lets his (tool-shaped) ego do the talking as a means of performance in order to emphasise his masculinity... but is in fact, a bit of a douche-bag...

As a one-of-a-kind twenty-something film fanatic and culture vulture... I have a 1st Class Honours degree in English Literature with Film Studies & Media Cultures. Along with recently completing MA by Research in Film Studies, I aspire to be a film critic and yearn for the opportunity to roll around on the red carpet (with or without Christian Bale in his Batsuit). Always openly embracing films of all genres and nations, although anything Studio Ghibli related will always have a place in my heart. Believes normality is overrated!
