10 Cult Movies Filmed In Black And White

10. Human Centipede 2: Final Sequence (2011)

Martin Lomax appears to have nothing good in his life. He is short and obese, an asthmatic who sweats a lot and he lives with his suicidal mother. Martin has a job as a security man which to outsiders looks boring but to Lomax, it is a fertile source for accruing his pets. You see, Martin is obsessed with the original Human Centipede by Tom Six. He has a scrapbook full of cuttings and information on how to make a human centipede and he watches the original over and over again, masturbating with sand paper. Martin has an ambition to make his own bigger human centipede and he begins to collect victims through his work as a security guard. Despite his wretched physical state, he manages to get 10 people kidnapped and he staples them ass to mouth and stands back glorying in his creation. But things are not exciting enough for Martin so he injects laxative into each component of the centipede and gleefully watches the ensuing mayhem. He gets pissed off when one of the people in his chain breaks free -resulting in two caterpillars. His dream in ruins, he shoots all of the members of the centipede. But the centipede has teeth and one of the people in the chain wreaks revenge on Martin. The first Human Centipede was grotesque and drew much wrath from the censors and the critics. Human Centipede 2: Final Sequence was an even more disgusting spectacle that Tom Six gifted the world with. Apparently he went out of his way to deliberately make the second instalment as revolting as possible. He filmed the movie in colour but when he was looking at scenes, they appeared to be even more nasty and repellant in black and white. The choice to make the film black and white was a good one on Six' part. For me, it actually mitigates the horror somewhat. I would hate to see the laxative scene in full colour nor the stapling of mouth to ass in the centipede. Tom Six went all out to give the audience a gross out experience and he achieved it with Human Centipede 2. He is working on Human Centipede 3, but topping the second instalment in the putrid stakes will be a very big mountain to climb.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
