And so here we here... at the last in our recent trilogy of articles designed to look back at the filmic year up until this point in time. Firstly, we outlined our picks for the best movies of the year thus far, the list of which you can read here. We followed this with a list poised on the opposite end of the spectrum; those movies which resulted in feelings of annoyance and rage - our choices for the absolute worst movies to have graced cinema screens over the course of 2014. And now, as we come to the final article, it's time to explore the movies that fell into neither camp. Varied in quality, it's arguably the films which disappointed us that remain the most interesting. Here we take a look back at those movies that might have divided opinion, caused a stir amongst critics and audiences alike, but ultimately served to disappoint those who had been long awaiting them. When compiling our list here, then, the qualifications for consideration were as follows: any movie released theatrically for the first time in either the UK or the US either between January 1st 2014 and now were thought about. It's also important to remember this isn't a list of bad movies, but of those that failed to live up to expectations; many of the picks still have redeeming factors.
