10 Disappointing Movies That Killed Our Nostalgia

Rubbish reboots and silly sequels.

In the past decade or so, it's become an increasing trend in Hollywood to reboot existing movie franchises, or launch sequels to films that originated way back in the '80s or '90s. Nostalgia is one of the biggest sellers, and the big studio producers know it.

Whilst it's always good to see production companies branching out with new IPs in the cinema, that's not to say some of the reboots haven't been effective at times. Abrams' Star Trek was generally well received back in 2009, and Nolan's Batman movies have been among the biggest releases of the decade.

Sadly, it's often the case that movie reboots and late sequels just end up undermining their brilliant predecessors. Over-use of special effects, excessive fan service, and actors that seem a bit weary of the project have all contributed to terrible movie reboots.

This list takes a look at ten movies that totally killed our nostalgia in one way or another. From films that tried (and failed) to evoke memories of the '80s, to others that somehow butchered the greatest movie franchises of all time, each of these movies were total disappointments.
