10 Disturbing Consequences Of Kick-Ass 2's Ending

10. Hit-Girl's Guardian Is Going To Prison

Kick Ass Marcus Kick-Ass tends to be very up front with its protagonists, showing them to be good-hearted but completely nuts. Remember, this is the franchise that introduced Nicolas Cage by having him blast an 11-year-old girl off her feet with a high-powered pistol, and he was one of the good guys. What I'm saying is that there were plenty of psychotic people in this film tapestry. The one good guy who appeared to buck this trend was Morris Chestnut's (awesome name, by the way) Marcus, Mindy's guardian. In case you forgot, Marcus was Big Daddy's ex-partner who took up the burden of looking after Mindy when he was killed by Frank D'Amico's goons. It's possibly the most selfless act in the film, and Marcus throws himself into the surrogate parent with aplomb, attempting to deal with the extraordinary circumstances of raising both a murderer and a teenage girl. Being fair, he makes a decent fist of it too, actively making her swear off superhero-dom and attempting to integrate her into High School. And what does he get for all that? Jail, that's what. Think about it €“ come the film's ending, Hit-Girl's identity has been rumbled and we see cops rifling through her bedroom as a disconsolate Marcus looks on. While he didn't get actively involved in the vigilante-ism, he harboured someone whose committed enough murder to put her on the most wanted lists three times over. If Marcus isn't getting some serious jail time for this, I would be incredibly surprised, and that just seems an awful ending for possibly the nicest character in the franchise. Speaking of good characters...
