10 Dumbest Predictions About Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Han the Jedi? Oh behave.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is among the most talked about movies of all time, and it hasn€™t even reached cinemas yet. We can attribute this, in no small part, to the shroud of mystery that J.J. Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm and Disney have hidden the project under since day one. Thanks to this high level of spoiler protecting secrecy, Star Wars€™ immense fan base has had to delve into guesswork. Online fan theories abound for The Force Awakens on a huge scale. It€™s hard to recall another movie that inspired quite so many fan theories in the build up to its release. Some of these theories make a lot of sense, and could well end up ringing true when the film finally comes out. On the other hand, though, some of the theories out there are really rather dumb. It€™s possible to read too much into something, and when people do this, their common sense has a tendency to go straight out the window. This results in some baffling theories that we can rule out with a decent amount of confidence. So, to help tide us over until The Force Awakens finally reaches UK cinemas on 17th December (18th in America), here€™s some of the stupidest The Force Awakens theories you€™re likely to find€

10. Luke Joins The Dark Side

There€™s nothing to stop J.J. Abrams from taking inspiration from the Star Wars Expanded Universe of books, comics and games. However, one idea he hopefully won€™t pinch is that Luke Skywalker has turned to the dark side of the Force in the decades since the events of Return Of The Jedi. Although there€™s some undeniable dramatic potential in the idea of an evil Luke, and we know that Mark Hamill can play an unhinged lunatic villain, there€™s one big reason that this hugely popular fan theory doesn€™t seem plausible at all - it would nullify the point of the previous six films. The Star Wars saga that began with the original trilogy and expanded into the prequels is all about the Skywalker family. As a whole, it plays as a galactic story of fathers and sons where Luke redeemed Anakin€™s evil actions and brought him back to the light side at the last possible minute. In doing so, Luke and Anakin finally saved the galaxy€ together. Abrams isn€™t going to undo that massive six-film arc and turn Luke into a baddie. He just isn€™t. Seeing as Abrams is a huge Star Wars fan, it seems unlikely that he would undo the work of George Lucas€™ films by making Luke the new villain.
