10 Embarrassing Spelling Mistakes You Won't Believe Made It Into Movies

10. "Zeigfeld Follies" - The Great Gatsby (2013)

movies_great_gatsby_trailer_still Yeah, we know: Baz Lurhmann's The Great Gatsby isn't even out yet, but some keen-eyed Fitzgerald fans have already spotted a particularly embarrassing error admist the trailer's excessive glitz 'n' glam. As you can see in the picture above, the centre of the frame is focused on something called "Zeigfeld Follies," which is the name of a series of Broadway productions that started in 1907. Shame that they were actually called "Ziegfeld Follies," then, something that the production team on Gatsby seemed to have overlooked completely. So far, Luhrmann's adaptation of "the great American novel" already has lots of fans questioning the legitimacy of the production, so lazy spelling errors like this are bound to have them terrified out of their minds where historical accuracy is concerned. Luckily this has been spotted well ahead of the movie's release, so the likelihood is that it'll be changed just in time.
