10 Excellent Films That Don't Actually Have A Plot

Sometimes a film is praised solely on the basis of its plot. In fact, sometimes it can feel like plot is the only thing anyone ever wants to discuss about film. Despite their cinematography and execution, their reliance on practical effects and visuals, films like Inception and Fight Club are only discussed in relation to their intricate and often incomprehensible plots of dual-personalities and dreams within dreams. This infatuation with plot also means that sometimes an audience can be stumped by a film that purposefully chooses not to have one, a film that shows no interesting at all in constructing a larger narrative. These films may have something to say, but their focus remains on characters and conversations, small details that don€™t paint a larger picture. The 2007 sci-fi film The Man From Earth would be a good example as it€™s essentially just a series of long conversations between different characters. There€™s no corporate espionage or acts of death defying heroism: it€™s just about people talking in a room for an hour and a half, and though it may not sound like it, it€™s still pretty riveting stuff.
