10 Famous Actors Who Were Forced To Appear In Movies Against Their Will

6. Anne Hathaway - The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

Anne Hathaway might be best known nowadays for her turns in huge movies such as The Dark Knight Rises and Les Miserables, but for a lot of people (read as: Disney fans), talk of the actress will always spur memories of a little film named The Princess Diaries. Whilst that movie is good, old-fashioned, light-hearted fun, its sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, is plainly not. Pretty much, it's a rehash, offering little in the way of plot. And it's a sequel that Anne Hathaway didn't really even want to make. She, instead, had her heart set on starring in the 2004 filmic version of The Phantom of the Opera, but was later forced to pull out of when the scheduling clashed with The Princess Diaries 2. Hathaway had already signed a contract with Disney to reprise her role in a sequel, you see, and so she had no choice but to turn down The Phantom of the Opera. Given the choice, it's pretty much a no-brainer which of the two films Hathaway would have opted for; it's safe to say, then, that the actress probably felt forced into making this when she didn't want to.
