10 Famous Actors Who Were Secretly Behind Classic Movies

10. Johnny Depp - Hugo

Hugo

If an actor was going to produce a Martin Scorsese movie you€™d imagine it€™d be one of the director€™s recurring stars; Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio have both produced his films at one time or another. But for Hugo a man completely unassociated to the legendary director was at work behind the scenes. Unlike many other stars of his level, Johnny Depp hadn€™t touched producing for much of his career, only starting recently. It€™s common for an actor to have to have produced a fair amount of material they€™ve starred in before moving into the role proper, but ol€™ Johnny took the plunge straight away. Hugo was the wonderfully named Infinitum Nihil€™s first (and so far only) non-Depp film. It took a good half a decade for the company (founded by Depp and ran by his sister) to get a film out, but now it€™s set up it doesn't look ready to stop. Up next (aside from Depp related stuff) is a dramatisation of the West Memphis Three, a much documented miscarriage of justice that regained notoriety after a brilliant Peter Jackson endorsed documentary last year.
